Tips on Staying Safe During the Holidays

As we approach Thanksgiving, we wanted to share some tips with you on how to have a safe holiday. Whether you are having a large gathering with family or friends, or keeping it low key, you’ll want to make sure that both you and your rental are safe from harm.

If you are eating turkey this year, please take good care not to burn the house down or get sick. This article has some great tips on the cooking of your turkey safely. If doing any sort of deep-frying indoors, you might want to have a fire extinguisher nearby and make sure your smoke alarm batteries are working. Another alternative is to consider going meat-free this year with these delicious holiday recipes.

If you are leaving town for the holidays, be careful where you post the news on social media. Homes are burglarized far more during the holidays than any other time of year. Consider putting a few lights on a timer to come on in the evening, turn your home phones off and lower the volume on your answering machine.

Taking a road trip can be fun during the holidays, but follow these tips to ensure nothing goes wrong. You might want to get your car serviced before you leave and watch out for weather advisories. These tips may seem like common sense, but during the craziness of the holidays, it’s better to be overprepared!

The entire SmartEgg Team wishes you a happy and safe Thanksgiving holiday!
